Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

5th Entertainment Education Conference (EE5) Scholarship Programme

The EE5 Scholarship Programme aims to encourage the participation of diverse and emerging voices in the field of Entertainment Education in the upcoming 5th International Entertainment Education Conference (EE5) to be held in New Delhi on November 17-20 2011. The EE5 Scholarship Programme asks applicants to submit a 500 word essay that addresses one of the following topics as they apply to their work in the EE field:

•"Diversity: We invite applications from EE practitioners or researchers that work among communities typically underrepresented in the field of Entertainment Education. Tell us how your efforts have fostered the introduction of diverse perspectives to the body of EE knowledge.
•Innovation: We invite applications from EE practitioners or researchers that have incorporated cutting-edge strategies and/or new technology in their work. Please describe how these innovations have been applied to your research or programming in the field.
•Application of Learning: We invite applications from EE practitioners or researchers that will be able to directly apply experiences gained from the EE5 conference to enrich their organization’s ability to develop, implement, or evaluate EE programs. Please tell us how participation in the EE5 conference will facilitate a meaningful transfer of skills and knowledge for enhancing your program and/or research."

The scholarship provides financial assistance in the form of a stipend (up to US$1,500) for travel to the conference and lodging. The registration fee will also be waived for scholarship recipients.

Scholarship recipients will be notified by October 10.

Application Info

According to EE5, minimum criteria for the conference scholarship are as follows: You must be a current EE practitioner or researcher. All are welcome to apply but priority will be given to applicants who fulfill any or all of the following criteria:

 

•"Applicants from low-income or lower middle income countries as defined by the World Bank.
•Applicants who work in communities to better address the needs of women, children and youth
•Applicants who submit an abstract accepted for inclusion in the EE5 conference (Abstract submitters: please note that you will be informed of your acceptance status after the conclusion of the scholarship deadline.)"
