Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText
This manual is part of a learning package consisting of the manual, video dramas and handouts that aim to build knowledge of fundamental human rights generally and in particular the right to freedom of religion, as well as promote religious tolerance. The manual was developed by the International Association for Religious Freedom (IARF), an interreligious organisation that aims to protect the right to religious freedom, in co-operation with the People’s Movement for Human Rights Learning (PDHR), an international non-governmental organisation (NGO) specialising in human rights education. It is designed for faith-based, interreligious, and citizens groups dedicated to learning and action to promote human rights and peace education.

This guide is organised into 3 parts. The first is designed to help the learning group facilitators to prepare for guiding the learning experience. The second provides background on the substance of the problems and the conceptualisation of human rights education. The third provides a specific set of procedures for conducting the learning groups.
