Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText

This HealthCompass portal from the Health Communication Capacity Collaborative (HC3) offers access to social and behaviour change communication (SBCC) "How-to Guides" that are short guides providing step-by-step instructions on how to perform core SBCC tasks. Guides may be searched by selecting a communication process step in the graphic on the portal home page or the drop-down menu which filters by such terms as "design", "organization", or "capacity strengthening", for example.

Each guide contains an introduction listing what the tool or process is, why use it, who should develop it, when it is useful, and to whom the guide is aimed. The learning objectives and pre-requisites, if any, are given, sometimes referring to other guides in the series, and then process steps are given. A conclusion is usually followed by templates, tips, a glossary, and sources.

Among the titles are the following:
