Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

This series of training modules from Fistula Care and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provides clinical supervisors, service providers, and national-level stakeholders with skills to review and interpret data for decision making in order to strengthen health systems and services. "The document includes guides for discussion and interactive activities, as well as handouts and other tools to teach lessons about data gathering, analysis, and application. The modules supplement EngenderHealth's facilitative supervision tools, which emphasize team problem solving and communication."

The Fistula Care project aims to increase and strengthen the number of health care sites providing fistula services, as well as to support prevention services, and includes in its work training for surgical teams and doctors, improving emergency obstetric and family planning for prevention, engaging communities to enable women to access maternal care, collecting and analysing data on fistula services, and encouraging the policy environment that supports fistula repair and prevention.
