The Communication Initiative

After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. 

Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future. 

On the transfer, co-founder Victoria Martin expressed her pleasure to see this work continue under Wits' leadership, knowing that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction. 

As Wits, we honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades and look forward building from that strong base. This includes co-founders Warren Feek (1953-2024) and Victoria Martin as well as La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA), which continues independently at lainiciativadecomunicacion.com with links to The CI Global site. We are also eager to forge new partnerships and entertain new ideas as we consider how best to contribute to social and behaviour change in our rapidly evolving environment.

If you are joining the International Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) Summit in Panama, please join Wits and CILA on Monday, 22 June, to share your thoughts and suggestion for the relaunch of the Communication Initiative. We will be in Pacifica 5 from 12-1:25 for the Refuel, Reflect, and Renew Lunch Series: The Communication Initiative: celebrating a driving force for Communication for Social Change and the way forward. We will reflect on the legacy of Warren Feek and family in creating the Communication Initiative, consider the contributions of CI over the years and then turn our attention towards the future in this dynamic session.

Becas para Curso de Desarrollo de Proyectos Cinematográficos Iberoamericanos

La Fundación Carolina otorgarán 16 becas para el VI Curso de Desarrollo de Proyectos Cinematográficos Iberoamericanos 2008 que se realizará del 6 de octubre al 28 de noviembre de 2008.  La capacitación tiene como objetivo principal mejorar la calidad de los proyectos audiovisuales de los cineastas iberoamericanos. Los proyectos serán asesorados desde su origen hasta obtener un guión de calidad susceptible de convertirse en una película. El curso tiene una orientación integral, por lo que conecta a los tres pilares fundamentales del cine: guionistas, directores y productores, con el propósito de estudiar, desarrollar y concretar la materialización de las propuestas seleccionadas.

 

 

Las becas comprenden:

 

  • Pasaje de ida y vuelta en clase turista a España, desde el país de residencia del becario.
  • Seguro médico, no farmacéutico.
  • Alojamiento en régimen de pensión completa en el tiempo que dure la beca.
  • Pago del 100% de la matrícula del curso.

 

Application Info

Se podrán presentar proyectos de largometrajes de ficción, documental o animación. Las becas de la Fundación Carolina están dirigidas a guionistas, directores y productores de América Latina, con experiencia previa en la actividad cinematográfica.

 

 

El candidato debe ser nacional de algún país de la Comunidad Iberoamericana de Naciones, excepto España.  No tener la residencia en España, ser menores de 45 años de edad y  ser licenciados universitarios. Se dará preferencia a los títulos del ámbito  audiovisual y afines al medio (cine, ciencias de la información y la comunicación, etc). No se excluirán otras licenciaturas o estudios siempre que el candidato tenga una experiencia demostrable en alguna de las profesiones directamente relacionadas con el medio audiovisual, tales como escritura de guión y realización para cine y televisión, en todos los géneros y categorías.  Disponer una dirección de correo electrónico.

 

 

El disfrute de la beca será incompatible con cualquier otro tipo de beca o remuneración económica, sin conocimiento y autorización expresa de la Fundación Carolina.  A fin de asegurar la participación activa a tiempo completo de los becarios, estos estarán sujetos a dedicación exclusiva durante el tiempo de duración del programa.
